My Life In Leipzig!
I will be studying abroad in Leipzig Germany this summer! I will be going with the Global Healthcare group, so I'll be taking a Global Healthcare class and an Advanced Bible class.
I'm super excited to share my experience with Photography and videos. Hope Y'all enjoy!
Week One May 22-27 2018

This is part of the ceiling of one of the passages at the city square. The passages have shops and restaurants within them, and used to cut through buildings instead of using the street.

Brunch from Saturday. Germans like bread and I do too! It was fun to try jam, butter, honey, and Nutella on bread! (not all at the same time)

Memorial for Jewish Holocaust victims. This was where a synagogue was.

Information about the Jewish memorial.

St. Thomas Church

Inside of St. Thomas Church.

The Stained glass windows in the St. Thomas church were AMAZING!

There are bikes EVERYWHERE and everyone rides their bikes!

A nice park a little behind the villa.
OMG! I'm here! Leipzig is sooo cool! The first week was a little rough getting used to a new culture and new place and getting over Jet Lag, but very fun. It was very busy and exciting! My favorite part was visiting the Churches, or going to the Famers Market so far! I'm excited to start shadowing this next upcoming week. Hope you enjoy!
What I have learned so far:
1. Germans don't smile at strangers when passing on the street
2. When talking to someone you don't know you don't ask "how are you?"
3. Grocery Shopping is hard when you don't speak the language!

What I miss So Far
(obviously family and friends but also...)
1. Chick-fil-a and Goldfish
2. Parents cooking for me
3. HEB
Weekend in Berlin June 1st - June 3rd 2018

Me!

Soren and I posing with Ampelmann. When the wall fell newly unified Germany wanted to get rid of everything from East Germany, but people fought for "the little traffic light man" to stay. Now he has his own store.

Ampelmann! These are traffic lights for crosswalks. He also starred in a cartoon. In a way Ampelmann is Germanys version Mickey Mouse

A canal and a train (typical Berlin)

Brandenburg Gate (pre rain storm)

The top of the Brandenburg Gate is toped with a statue of the goddess of victory.

Memorial in remembrance of the Book Burning on May 10th 1933. We stood where the book burning occurred and under neath are empty shelfs to represent the books not there anymore.

The Berlin Wall. It was very interesting to learn about the wall going up, life with the wall, and the wall coming down.
Germany has been SOOOO much fun! It's still unbelievable that I'm here! This past weekend we went to Berlin and It was super interesting. It's crazy how much history is everywhere in one city and how interesting, and real history gets when its shown to you, not through a textbook, but when you visit places.
Week 3 (plus some) June 4th - June 13th

Week 3 (plus some) was great! It was awesome to visit more places in Germany and to explore Leipzig more. It is crazy how close all of us have gotten just over a short period of time. I guess that's what happens when you live and travel with people 24/7.
ROME!!!!June 13th-17th

Week 5 June 18th to 26th

Wow, this trip has been AMAZING! It is flying by and I'm not ready for it to be over. This week was filled with Germany adventures, from meeting students who go to Leipzig University, trying to go swimming, watching Germany win their world cup game, and shadowing at different medical clinics, this week was eventful!
Saxon and Dresden June 27th - July 1 2018

Hiking in Saxon Switzerland was sooo much fun. (no where near, Switzerland so I don't know why its called that) Anyways the views where breath taking (and so was the hike at some points) It was a relaxing weekend and incredible to see more of Gods wonderful creation! We then spend the day in Dresden Germany which was really fun. It was cool to see another part of Germany.
Week 7 Finals, Prauge, and traveling home July 2-9 2018

I can't believe this trip is already over. It was absolutely AMAZING! Believe it or not there is actually studying in Study Abroad. We had finals and then went to Prague (which was really cool and very pretty) and then we headed home. Monday was a VERY long day of traveling, but I'm happy to be home. This trip is something I will never forget. The best part of the trip was the group of people I traveled with!
